Solgar BCAA Plus Vegetable Capsules contains the essential Branched-Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine and L-Valine. The amino acids are the building blocks of protein and are required for many bodily functions. They can be classified as either 'essential' or 'non-essential', with the essential amino acids needing to be obtained through diet alone to maintain overall health. The BCAAs can also be used by the body to create hormones, enzymes, neurotransmitters, antibodies and nutrient transporters. Inadequate intake of essential amino acids increases the body's need for non-essential amino acids, either through diet or supplementation. Foods that increase amino acid uptake include meat, beans, dairy and eggs.
