Serrapeptase is a proteolytic enzyme (protein-digesting) isolated from the friendly bacteria called Serratia marcescens. It is an enteric coated tablet to prevent the enzyme from being destroyed by stomach acid and to protect stomach lining against digestive activity of Serrapeptase. It is used to treat inflammation, asthma, back pain, osteoarthritis, swelling after surgery, rheumatoid arthritis, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.
